"Boy, it sure is cold!"
I think that's the words I've heard most often this year. And I'd have to agree. At the Chamber, we're doing our best to warm everyone up and get ready for spring and summer.
We're busily putting together the 2014 Activities Guide for visitors and locals alike. It's our goal to provide information you can use all year long to find things to do right here at home. You'll see that in April in your mailbox. We will also post it online at www.VisitWebsterCityIowa.com Feel free to head over to the website now, we keep our Events Calendar current and there's a lot of to do here in Webster City.
The Webster City Area Chamber has partnered with 9 other communities across Highway 20 and will be creating a booklet that encourages travelers to ride the highway across Iowa! We'll be contributing to the Facebook page www.facebook.com/TourUS20 and there will be 10,000 guides distributed across the state.
New Chamber members this year so far are: Stacy Bauer with Scentsy, Maverick Machines, Jake Mueller and Gabe Jorgensen from Farm Bureau, Pheasants Forever, Stein Heating and American Legion Post 191. Welcome them to the Chamber.
People have been traveling too. Connie Gilbert represented Iowa small businesses in Washington DC when she met with Steve King to talk about the Marketplace Fairness Act. We've got a group of residents traveling March 12 to Ireland as part of our Chamber Discoveries program. I attended the Institute of Organizational Management in January and am looking forward to the Disney Leadership Program at Iowa Central Community College in April.
Feel free to stop by and enjoy a cup of warm coffee this winter and chat for a spell. We keep it warm in the office.
