Over the past several months the Webster City Community School District, in cooperation with the Webster City Police Department, have been updating its Crisis Response Plan. As part of that update the Webster City Police Department has been providing training in the ALICE program. It is a course of instruction and a training approach devoted to increasing awareness about possible violent situations. School officials said these situations can and have occurred in the public schools and ALICE is the response to them. The program and training provides steps to survive a possible "shooter" or violent scenarios on school grounds. The five components of ALICE are:
In an effort to inform and answer questions about the training that has taken place and the next steps of involving staff and students in practice drills, three community forums will be held. The forums are scheduled for Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and March 6 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.
All forums will be held in the Middle School Commons. The forums are open to all interested parents and community members.
