Two charged in store robbery

WC residents in custody after Tuesday chase

Two Webster City residents have been charged with robbery following a chase with law enforcement on Tuesday.

On Monday at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from the Sparky's One Stop Convenience Store in Stanhope that they had been robbed at gun point.

During the course of the investigation, suspects were developed. On Tuesday, the Webster City Police Department attempted to stop a suspect vehicle and an approximately 18 mile pursuit ensued. The vehicle stopped on 165th Street, east of North Stonega Avenue. The driver, a 17-year-old male from Webster City, and passenger Andrew Howard Ross Kroeze, 18-years-old of Webster City, were taken into custody.

A search warrant was obtained and executed on the suspects' vehicle. From evidence found in the vehicle and learned through the investigation, the 17-year-old male was charged with Robbery in the First Degree, Eluding and numerous other traffic citations. The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Eldora.

Through the investigation, it was determined the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen.

Kroeze was charged with First Degree Robbery and is being held in the Hamilton County Jail.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Webster City Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol, the Wright County Sheriff's Office and the Ellsworth-Jewell-Stanhope Police Department.
