Do you want to improve your computer skills? Learn how to use a new software program? Maybe you have a teenager who will be taking the ACT this spring and want them to start preparing for the big test. LearningExpress, a database that you can access for free through the Kendall Young Library website, offers help for these issues and more.

Test Prep

LearningExpress offers test prep for a wide variety of tests, from admission tests like the ACT, SAT, MCAT, LSAT, and GMAT, to occupation exams, like the CDL, Postal Worker, Law Enforcement, Nursing, and teacher certification exams. By creating an account on the database, you can track your progress through the test prep as you take practice exams and review key concepts.

Computer Skills

Computer Skills are becoming increasingly important in today's digital world. LearningExpress offers tutorials for a wide variety of skill sets. For beginners, courses such as Get Started with Your Computer or Get Started with the Internet introduce you to the computer with short, easy-to-follow videos and learning guides. For those more familiar with computers, software tutorials help you learn the ins and outs of software programs like Microsoft Word, Publisher, or Excel. With lesson plans for beginner, intermediate, and advanced users, even those with a working knowledge of these programs will learn something new.

Career Help

LearningExpress can also help you in all aspects of your career. Learn if a career is right for you, or prepare for an entrance exam. Help is also offered for those currently searching for employment. Tutorials are offered for improving your job search and interviewing skills, including writing great resumes and cover letters. And once you land that job, work to improve your workplace skills through tutorials on writing skills in the workplace and public speaking.

Adult Learning Center

While those still in school have plenty of ways to brush up on vital skills, it can be more challenging for adults to find the time or opportunities to for similar activities. The Adult Learning Center offers courses and tutorials to help adults improve important skills like reading or math, as well as prep for the GED (now HiSET). It also offers guides for becoming a U.S. Citizen, with test prep for the Citizenship exam and an eBook on obtaining your Green Card. Best of all, these materials are available in both English and Spanish.

LearningExpress is a great resource for anyone wanting to learn-whether it is test prep or just improving your skills. Access this and other valuable databases from the eLibrary section on our website at www.kylib.org, or stop by the reference desk at the library to learn more.
