Police officials say two 18-year-olds charged and now in custody

February 11, 2014
The Daily Freeman Journal

The Webster City Police Department investigated an incident that occurred in late December involving approximately 20 city street signs that were purposely damaged. In addition, the Hamilton County Crimestoppers offered a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of any of the persons who are responsible for damage.

The Department processed several tips in regards to this incident. As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for Devan Michael Shutt, 18, and Logan David Mack, 18, both of Webster City.

On Monday at or about 2:15 p.m., Shutt was arrested during a traffic stop at the intersection of Bank Street / Des Moines Street. He was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with:

Reckless Driving (Simple Misdemeanor)

2nd Degree Criminal Mischief (Class "D" Felony)

Logan Mack was arrested Monday night and charged with Aiding and Abetting 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief (Class "D" Felony).

The $500 Crimestoppers reward is currently being processed to the tipster. As in any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation of the commission of a

crime and a defendant is presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty.
