The newest production of the Webster City Community Theatre will premiere Friday.
"The Dixie Swim Club" is set to run Friday through Sunday and the weekend after from Feb. 14 to 16. The play will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.
According to a WCCT release, the play is about five southern women whose friendship began many years ago on their college swim team. These women set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's outer banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives. "The Dixie Swim Club" focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years.
Seated, from left, are Cathy Olson as Dinah, Linda Conaway as Jeri Neal, Kayleen Kehoe as Lexie, and standing from left are Loween Getter as Vernadette and Stephanie Hill as Sheree. The five life-long friends portrayed in 'The Dixie Swim Club' pause for a 'group hug' in WCCT's upcoming production that opens Feb. 7.
The play is directed by Angela Rottering with assistance from Sue Heerema. The cast includes Stephanie Hill, Cathy Olson, Kayleen Kehoe, Loween Getter and Linda Conaway.
Tickets are currently on sale for the play. To reserve tickets, go to the theatre at 1001 Willson Avenue on weeknights from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. or on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Tickets can also be ordered online through wcctonline.org.
