Members of the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce will "Stir it Up" Wednesday night as they gather for the annual dinner meeting at the Event Center Building at Hamilton County Fairgrounds.
"It's kind of nice to shake things up a little bit," Chamber Director Deb Brown said about the banquet's theme. "We're not starting off the year doing anything crazy and wild, but we want people to take a look at what they are doing and see how they can stir it up a little bit and make it more exciting."
The evening gets underway with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. featuring the talents of the Iowa Central Community College culinary arts students. Brown said the students would be preparing and serving a whole hog.
Following the dinner, Brown said new members to the chamber - more than 40 - will be honored along with those members who have marked more than 25 years with the Chamber of Commerce.
"What a great juxtaposition - the old and the new. We can help each other, stir it up and make great things happen together," she said.
"It's a real commitment to the community to belong to the chamber for over 25 years," Brown said. "We're very happy to showcase those members."
The guest speaker for the evening is Dave Sheffield. He will talk about abundance thinking and building a bigger pie; ways to create a clear and compelling vision; navigating a multi-generational workplace; Heavy doses of mental floss to inspire and motivate and how to keep going when you really want to drop.
Brown said a DJ would provide music before and after the program.
Those attending will have an opportunity to select a mystery rubber ducky at a cost of $5. After the program, attendees can exchange the duck for a donated prize.
"I think it's just a great opportunity for Chamber members to have a good meal, network and recognize each other," Brown said.
