Carroll Ose, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Van Diest Medical Center, and Jim FitzPatrick, Senior Vice President of Network Management and Development with Mercy Health Network announced Thursday that Lori Rathbun will serve as interim chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Rathbun currently holds the position of MHN finance executive for the Mercy Rural Network, based out of Des Moines.
Prior to her present role working with the Rural Network at MHN, she led many initiatives while providing progressive leadership at Mercy Medical Center - Centerville as vice president of operations and chief financial officer.
VDMC officials said Rathbun's expertise lies in strategic, operational and financial planning, with significant results demonstrated in all key financial indicators at Centerville coupled with development and growth in their outpatient services under her direction.
Throughout the past 16 years working with Mercy Medical Center in both Centerville and Des Moines, she has had the opportunity to implement numerous collaborative efforts related to business planning, including financial analysis and implementation of new services with direct involvement from physicians, staff and board members.

Rathbun will continue to be involved in network finance leadership projects while she duly serves the role of interim CEO for Van Diest Medical Center. Recruitment efforts for a new CEO are currently underway.
