Expo Jan. 21 geared toward entrepreneurs

FORT?DODGE?- Area residents will have an opportunity to learn about starting or building an existing small business at the upcoming Entrepreneur Expo 2014, 1 to 5 p.m., Jan. 21. The host site for the Expo will be the Bio Science Building, Iowa Central Community College, One Triton Circle, Fort Dodge.

One Webster City resident, Sue Anderson, who attended a previous Expo, said, "It's a great opportunity to learn from business professionals about the key legal, accounting, marketing concepts and developing a realistic business plan for a new business. The ability to hear, meet and talk with your small business peers provides great insight into establishing and building a successful business."

Among the entities sponsoring the Expo are the Mid Iowa Growth Partnership, MIDAS and the local Small Business Development Center, Business planning and marketing assistance is available free of charge from Lisa Shimkat and Cindy Schieber - who covers Hamilton County - housed within the Regional ISU Extension Office in Fort Dodge. Special breakout sessions will cover "Local Start-up Success Stories," "Starting Smart and Getting Social," and "Where's the Money?" Experienced professionals will be available for one-on-one conversations.
