BLAIRSBURG - The Northeast Hamilton School Board will meet in regular session on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the elementary media center.
On the agenda tonight will be a presentation concerning the possibility of whole grade sharing for grades 7-12 for the 2015-2016 school year by Roark Horn of Iowa's Area Education Agency.
The question to vote on whole grade sharing was on the meeting agenda for December, but when the board and district patrons noted the lack of public turnout at the meeting, the vote was postponed until January. The board also suggested holding a community meeting to discuss the district's options.
But on Monday, Superintendent Larry Frakes reported that since the deadline for making a decision on whole grade sharing for the 2014-2015 school year had expired, the Board would not be holding a community meeting on the topic. In a related matter, ratification of the agreement to partial day share with Webster City for the 2014-2015 school year is on the agenda.
Also for consideration is the question of possible sharing of athletics. With declining enrollment, NEH faces difficulty in fielding full teams in some sports.
Other agenda items include bus barn issues, open enrollment requests, a presentation from Cindi Sweedler of the Williams Area Development and a report on negotiations with the NEH Education Association.
