STANHOPE - When the Stanhope City Council met in regular session on Monday evening, there were a variety of issues on the agenda, including approval of budgetary requests at the same last year for Hamilton County S.E.E.D., Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc., and Community and Family Resources.

Mayor Harold Hove and the council were updated by public works superintendent Tad Stupp on completed and continuing projects. The garage formerly at the rear of 550 Parker St. has been moved to its new permanent position in the city park and will be renovated into the new Lion's Den. The new playground equipment has been delivered, but cannot be installed until spring due to winter weather. Also, Stupp reported he plans to complete electrical system tree trimming.

In other business, two new proposed ordinances for very modest increases in sanitary sewer and water services were reviewed by council members. The changes are effective May 20, 2014.

The council approved a resolution authorizing the city as the fiscal sponsor for a 2014 Enhange Hamilton County Foundation Grant application.
