Boy Scouts go carolling for a cause in WC

The Daily Freeman Journal

Members of Webster City Boy Scout Troop 17 had a memorable and fun evening of caroling, giving and fellowship Thursday evening as they surprised six different unsuspecting area families with enough groceries to make a large family Christmas supper.

Scouts caroled outside each residence before presenting them with the groceries and wishing them a Merry Christmas. Scouts and their families all donated grocery items to compile six full Christmas suppers, complete with ham, potatoes and gravy, scalloped corn, green bean casserole, rolls, pie and whipped topping.

Scoutmaster Dave Bergeson said, "What a wonderful feeling each of these boys had being a part of giving back. Anytime you can make someone genuinely smile, someone that's had a challenging year in whatever way, it is a great feeling."
