Fort Dodge Choral Society will present two performances of "Joy to the World," a concert uniting the choir and Jive for Five brass quintet in Christmas music. The first performance is 7 p.m. Dec. 21, at Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt; the second is at 3 p.m. Dec. 22, at First United Methodist Church, Fort Dodge. Special guests for both concerts will be the bell choir from Faith United Methodist, directed by Ryan Bowman.

On Sunday afternoon, audience members are invited to come early for Christmas treats and carol singing lead by Cheryl Kuhlman and Beverly Poduska. The pre-concert festivities will begin at 2 pm.

Conductor Bruce Perry has chosen a program of Christmas music for brass and choir. Highlights include double choir works by Giovanni Gabrielli and Johann Pachelbel, as well as music by Handel, Holst, and Hayes. The choir will premiere Iowa-born composer Philip King's "Christmas Bells," a setting of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Civil War Christmas poem. The concert will culminate with a setting of "Joy to the World," for brass, bells, and choir, arranged by Eagle Grove resident Cathy Moklebust.
