GIRLS HOOPS: Miller drops 20 points on Trojets, CAL prevails 41-29

December 4, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

LATIMER - Karter Miller had the attention of rookie Northeast Hamilton girls' basketball coach Adam Vorrie prior to tip-off and his anxiety proved to be warranted.

Miller's speed and ball-handling allowed her to get to the basket at will, as she pumped in a game-high 20 points to propel her CAL Cadets to a 41-29 triumph over Northeast Hamilton here last night in the Iowa Star Conference opener for both teams.

CAL (1-0, 1-0) led wire-to-wire, including by 11 at the intermission, 21-10.

"(Miller) was exactly who we were worried about going into the game and we just couldn't execute to stop her," Vorrie said. "We are extremely inexperienced and fundamentally unsound right now.

"The effort is there, it's just a total lack of experience."

Andi Anderson - a sophomore and one of the few Trojets to see varsity time prior to this season - carried NEH with 10 points. Lillian Chamness chipped in seven, while Kaylee Massman and Leah Meyer both finished with four.
