BOYS HOOPS: Up-tempo Hawks use balance to race by Cubs

Hislop, Hill score in double figures in opening victory

JEWELL - A balanced effort from its roster and during each quarter propelled the South Hamilton boys' basketball team to a season-opening victory here last night on Coach Jim Marsh Court.

The Hawks (1-0, 1-0 HOIC) received scoring output from nine different players and scored a minimum of 14 points in each quarter in its 68-50 thumping of Nevada.

Matt Hislop had a big night for South Hamilton, as the senior point guard poured in 17 points. He was joined in double figures by Collin Hill, who rattled in 11.

Ross Enderson dropped in nine points; Trevor Ullestad nailed a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points to match the scoring effort of Zach Puls. Andy Cook added six points.

Cole Gidel did all he

could for Nevada (0-1, 0-1 HOIC). He connected on four triples and notched a game-high 22 points.

A 19-12 run in the second quarter pushed the Hawks' halftime cushion to 33-23 and the Cubs never threatened after the intermission.
