BOYS HOOPS: Seiser too much for Cadets, Trojans roll in season opener

Senior foward rips off 34 and 13; Jeffers gets hot after break, pours in 20

December 4, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

LATIMER - CAL had no - zip, zero, nada - answer for Northeast Hamilton's 6-foot-5 senior forward Logan Seiser here last night.

And once Seiser went to the bench for good early in the fourth quarter the Cadets had no way to stop Nick Jeffers.

Seiser posted a monster double-double - 34 points and 13 rebounds - and Jeffers went off for 20 second-half points to push the Trojans to an easy 69-22 season-opening victory over CAL here last night.

Jeffers poured in 12 points in the fourth quarter - an 8-minute stretch in which NEH (1-0, 1-0 ISC) outscored CAL (0-1, 0-1 ISC) 29-2.

Hunter Dilley started in the place of flu-ridden Gabe Rapp and collected five points. Austin Smith notched four and four boards.

"They packed in a zone against Logan, so he went outside and hit some shots, and it was good to see the other guys get involved, too," NEH head coach John Seiser said. "I thought Hunter Dilley stepped up and did a good job."
