STANHOPE - Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Stanhope has been a busy place recently as the collection point for Operation Christmas Child.

Monday, 397 shoe boxes of Christmas gifts donated from 13 area churches and individuals were loaded into a truck and shipped to Des Moines and then Minneapolis on their way to make Christmas brighter for children in other countries. Boxes filled with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and other small gifts were donated from all over Iowa to go to children ages 2 to 14 in India, Madagasgar, Kenya, and Zambia. Also included is a storybook presentation of the gospel.

This is the third year that the Stanhope church has been a drop-off site. Operation Christmas Child is one branch of Samaritan's Purse.
