Jewell teen dies in crash

State Patrol is investigating Saturday traffic accident near Radcliffe

A head-on collision half a mile west of Radcliffe resulted in the death of a 17-year-old Jewell resident Saturday.

According to an Iowa State Patrol report, Braden M. Wicks was driving a 2004 Chevy Impala eastbound on Highway 175. He crossed the center line and collided with a westbound semi-truck operated by Floyd E. Wiley, 62, of Zearing, at 6:45 a.m.

The report said Wicks was fatally injured. He was transported to Mercy Hospital. Wiley sustained non-lethal injuries during the accident which remains under investigation.

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office, Radcliffe Fire and Ambulance Departments and the Story City Ambulance Service assisted the Iowa State Patrol following the accident.
