WCCT’s readers group to meet Sunday

‘Almost, Maine’ is selected script for November reading

November 6, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

Webster City Community Theatre's Readers Theater will be reading "Almost, Maine" by John Cariani on Sunday at 4:30 pm.

On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend--almost--in this delightful midwinter night's dream.

The play takes place in various locales in Almost, Maine, a small town in northern Maine that doesn't quite exist. The time is the present. Everything takes place at 9 p.m. on a cold, clear, moonless, slightly surreal Friday night in the middle of the deepest part of a northern Maine winter. The play has eight scenes featuring two to three actors each. There are parts for both men and women.

The reading will be directed by Mark Andrew.

Bring a snack to share and a beverage for yourself, and be ready to join in the fun.
