Help with heat offered

Eligible parties can apply for LIHEAP at UDMO office

November 5, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

Hamilton County residents needing help with energy costs may be eligible for assistance from the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

The LIHEAP was established to help qualifying Iowa homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season.

Applications will be taken now through April 30, 2014. The program will provide supplement assistance based on several factors, including total household income, household size, dwelling type and type of heating fuel.

Households who may be over the regular income guidelines may be eligible for benefits through the medical waiver component. Officials said medical expenses must be documented, paid and non-reimbursable. Those who have already applied and been approved this winter season, cannot reapply.

For more information and an appointment, call Upper Des Moines Opportunity Outreach office, 832-6451, located at 1440 E. Second St. in Webster City.
