Absentee voting begins in county

Ballots for Nov. 5 city election are available at auditor’s office

Hamilton County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Kim Schaa has announced that absentee ballots for the Nov. 5 City Election are available to be voted in the Hamilton County Auditor's Office.

Absentee ballots may be cast in the Hamilton County Auditor's Office at the Hamilton County Courthouse, 2300 Superior St, Webster City, during the regular office hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last day to cast an absentee ballot at the Auditor's Office for voters in the cities of Stratford and Webster City is Nov. 4 by 5 p.m. and for the voters in the cities of Blairsburg, Ellsworth, Jewell, Kamrar, Randall, Stanhope and Williams is Nov. 5 by 11 a.m.

Absentee ballots must be requested in writing. Forms are available at the Auditor's Office, on the Hamilton County web site at www.hamiltoncounty.org and at the Iowa Secretary of State's web site at www.sos.iowa.gov. Ballots requested through the mail must be returned and postmarked by midnight, Nov. 4. However, those returning their ballots via the postal service are encouraged to mail them before Oct. 31.

All requests for ballots to be mailed must be received by the Auditor's Office by 5 p.m., Nov. 1.
