Crimestoppers to offer $1,000 reward

The Webster City Police Department has been investigating a series of burglaries that have occurred during the past several months. According to Chief Brian Hughes, these burglaries have only involved vacant commercial and residential properties and the perpetrators are stealing copper pipes and wiring from the home. Hughes said scrap metal is selling at a premium price which has increased thefts of this nature all across the state of Iowa.

The investigation has produced two suspects, but it still needs further information to make an arrest. The Hamilton County Crimestoppers organization is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the people responsible. The reward money was donated by the Webster City Multiple Listing Service and the city of Webster City.

Members of the Webster City Multiple Listing Service donated $500 to Crimestoppers to help with a reward for information concerning a series of recent burglaries.
