Kenneth James Green, 81, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept, 21st, 2013. He was born to the late James and Barbara Green March 2nd, 1932 in LeMars, Iowa. Ken graduated from Rockwell City, Iowa high school in 1950. From 1953-1955 he served with the United States Army in Korea. His specialties during active duty consisted of chemical, biological and nuclear warfare. In 1972, he received a master's degree in education and was an instructor at Iowa Central Community College for 25 years. He married Patricia Brush June 1st, 1952 and they lived together in Webster City, Iowa before relocating to Sarasota in 1986. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; 3 sons, Scott, Steven, Jon (all from Sarasota); 1 brother, Larry Green from Gravois Mills, Missouri; 4 grandchildren and 7 nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by 1 son, Ronald Leslie, 2 sisters, Inez Pelster, Mardella Vineyard and 1 brother Herman Green. Ken was an avid fisherman, golfer, hunter, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
