The Daily Freeman Journal

The Webster City Community and Senior Center Center will be holding a fund raiser on Sept. 29 from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. or until the food is gone.

The event is being held at the center and the seniors will be serving hot beef sandwiches, real mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and assorted homemade bars.

Volunteers will be cooking, serving and doing clean-up. Call the center at 832-6161 to volunteer to help or to donate funds to help keep the center open for the senior population in Webster City.

The City of Webster City has asked the seniors to raise one third of the cost of operation every year. Organizers said a successful pancake day earlier this year and raised about $600. Webster City has many seniors who have gathered at the center, located at 749 Second St., for many years. Congregate Meals are also served at the center five days a week and the RSVP office is housed in the center.
