Lois E. Thompson, 88, of West Des Moines, formerly of Ellsworth, died on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Mercy West Medical Center in West Des Moines with her family at her side. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth and Lois' cremated remains will be interred at Homewood Cemetery north of Ellsworth.
Lois Elaine Anderson was born on January 29, 1925 to Ray Adolf and Cora Henrietta (Hanson) Anderson in Randall, Iowa. She attended Randall Consolidated Schools and graduated with the class of 1943. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator in California and Iowa. In December, 1953 she married Robert L. Thompson at the Lutheran parsonage in Randall. Lois and Bob were parents of three children.
Lois is survived by her son Craig (Dawn) Thompson, of West Des Moines, and daughters Kathryn Prowant of West Des Moines and Sheryl (Dave) Halverson of Webster City. She has five grandchildren, Cami (David) Flores of Buda, Texas, Cari (John) Farris of Round Rock, Texas, Nicholas Thompson of Buda, Texas, David Prowant of Atlanta, Georgia, Bradley Prowant of St. Paul, Minnesota, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Margret Anderson of Ellsworth and Thora Reisetter of Northwood, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by Robert in 2000, sisters Geneva Olson and Mildred Bates, and brother Raymond Anderson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.
