August and the hot days of summer - but we keep thinking "remember winter" as we enjoy these warm days. Aug. 2 we played golf and drank a little wine at Briggs Woods Golf club. Aug. 9 brought out lots of people downtown for the last Summer Nights. Live music, good food, free movie and lots of fun was had by all. We've decided we'll do it all again next year.
The Preserve Iowa Summit was held in Burlington and we proudly shared lots of information about Webster City. We did the same thing at the Downstate Illinois Economic Development Conference on Aug. 29.
We launched the Incubator Project this month and are working on finding that person(s) who wants to start a small business and needs a quick start. There's a space available, free resources for business planning and lots of attention. Just like we did with baby chicks - we get you growing.
We have seven new Chamber members this month. Please help us welcome Jordan and Mahoney Law Firm, El Paisita Mexican Family Restaurant, RSVP, Linda Conaway, Rob Bacon, Rona Johnson and Ramona Timm. Our next quarterly coffee is Sept. 5 at Webster City RV bright and early - 7:30 am. If you're a Chamber member, join us for an hour that morning to hear about the new members, honors and events, business expansions and growth and other Chamber news.
In closing - RV TV is right around the corner. Sept. 11 there will be lots of activity downtown and everyone is invited to join in the fun. Tailgating, a chili cook-off, bean bag tournaments, Doodlebug races, music, four-way tug of war, s'mores right in the street!, kids fun zone, Dance Connection performance and more. Oh yeah - Murph and Andy from WHO-TV will be here to encourage the rivalry between Iowa and Iowa State and to put us on the news. Look for portapotties that are dressed up, a house divided rivalries, and plenty of food and fun! We start about 4 pm and go until we're done (that's about 10:30 pm).
You can find lots of information at www.VisitWebsterCityIowa.com, Stay cool, stay safe and Happy Labor Day from the Chamber.
