Mary Pelz, 79, Webster City

Mary Jean Blackwell was born March 18, 1934 in Marseilles, Illinois to Charles and Muriel (Orvis) Blackwell. Mary grew up in Colona, Illinois where she and her sisters liked to attend dances. At one of these dances, Mary met a young Air Force enlistee, Robert Charles Pelz of Blairsburg, Iowa who swept her off her feet, marrying her on February 10, 1954 in Blairsburg to live while Robert was overseas in England. When Robert was discharged from the Air Force, they started a family in Webster City, Iowa,. To this union 5 daughters were born and raised in their family home, which Jeannie still resided in at time of death.

Mary's wish was to be cremated with burial at a later date.

Mary is survived by her husband of 59 1/2 years, Robert of Webster City, daughters Carol (Kevin) Schoeppler of West Des Moines, Debra (Andy) Raymond of Lehigh, Nancy (Bob) Wilson of Wilton and Susan (Mike Yerkes) Spangler of Waterloo, 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren with twins due in December. Sisters, Joan Doudna of Kansas, June Wilkey, Arizona, brother William Blackwell of Illinois, Brother in laws Jack Pelz of Webster City, Richard (Barb) Pelz of Desoto Wisconsin, sister in laws Sheri (Roger) Fagervik of Blairsburg, Iowa and Patricia Pelz, Loveland Colorado.

Mary was preceded in death by daughter Donna K. Pelz on July 13, 2013, both parents and in-laws Robert E., Alma (Short) Pelz of Blairsburg.

Mary was a homemaker most of her life with housecleaning jobs, retiring from Crestview Manor.

The family is hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the American Legion, 726 Second Street Webster City from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
