‘Arts R Alive in WC’

Five entries vie for awards in public art competition

The "Arts R Alive in Webster City" sculpture contest is underway in Webster City, with five entries competing for several awards.

As of Tuesday, three of the five entries are displayed in West Twin Park, with the remaining two to be up by today. Voting for People's Choice Award will be held in the West Twin Park from 4 to 7 p.m. today, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday.

The event kicks off with the "Artist Talk" and reception with refreshments will begin in the park at 4 p.m. Artists will be making comments about their pieces at 5:30 p.m.

“Give Peace a Chance” by Jon Kayser of Webster City is one of five sculptures in this year’s contest.

The Dance Connection will showcase a dance event also on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday, the judge's comments will be presented along with wine, cheese and soft drinks beginning at 6 p.m.
