The town of Ellsworth will continue its involvement with Hamilton County S.E.E.D. and the Main Street program, following action by the city council there at their July session
Other business on the agenda included a discussion of the rental inspection program. Property owners have concerns about non-owner occupied property inspections conducted every two years by Midiowa Consulting and Inspection Service. Property owners are encouraged to attend the inspections or to have a representative present if they cannot attend. The company conducts inspections, and then sends a report to the property owner and to the city clerk. When repairs are completed, the property owner notifies the clerk so a Certificate of Occupancy can be issued. Properties that are not occupied by the owner may have utilities discontinued between renters if improvements on the inspection report have not been completed.
The council voted to approve the appointment of Dale Graham to a five-year term on the zoning commission/board of adjustment. Names for vacancies on the planning and zoning commission board and the board of adjustment will be submitted for appointment at the August council meeting.
In property matters, the council looked at estimates from Pagel Window, Door & Siding for windows at the community center. There were several questions on the estimates, so a representative from Pagel will be asked to attend the August council meeting.
