Stratford to host first-ever progressive dinner Aug. 6

Funds raised to be used for an upgrade to clinic equipment

The Daily Freeman Journal

Plan now to attend Stratford's first ever progressive dinner. The event is being planned by Stratford's Promotion Committee as a way to familiarize the community with its businesses and to raise funds for the effort to upgrade the x-ray equipment at the medical clinic. The progressive dinner is scheduled for Aug. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Organizers said the fun part of a progressive dinner is not only being able to sample a variety of foods from a variety of cooks, but also to be able to check out Stratford's businesses. Each participating business will provide a sample portion of the meal. Appetizers will be served at the Stratford Clinic and Rungo's, soup at In Good Company and US Bank, a salad at Stratford Food Center, a side dish at Stratford Hardware, an entre at Corina's, drink at Stratford Fitness Center and desert at Family Pharmacy and Beautique Salon.

Raising funds for the x-ray equipment upgrade is another fun part of the event. While the Stratford clinic is fortunate to have x-ray equipment at all, in this age of advanced technology it could use some improvement. VanDiest Medical Center, operator of the clinic, is looking to improve operations by being able to electronically send the images to technicians who can read the image and immediately respond with treatment recommendations.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance from Connie at Enchanted Mirror or Darcy at the Stratford Telephone Company.
