Fielder goes into HR trot twice, Lynx roll by EG

The Daily Freeman Journal

EAGLE GROVE - The recent hitting slump that the Webster City baseball team has endured was put to bed here last night.

The Lynx hit singles, a double and even went to the long ball, as they jumped all over Eagle Grove and cruised to a 13-5 North Central Conference victory.

"It was a fun night all the way around," WCHS head coach Troy Smock said. "We came up aggressive when guys were on base and we wanted to be the guy to get the clutch hit."

Junior clean-up hitter Dylan Fielder belted two home runs, both two-run shots, and he finished 3-for-4 with six RBIs. He sent a laser the opposite way over the right-field fence in the first inning and followed it up with a towering blast over the fence in left-center in the third.

WCHS (8-17, 6-11 NCC) scored two runs in each of its first four at bats to build an 8-0 lead, and then tacked on four in the fifth to push the cushion to 12-1. The Lynx finished with 13 hits.

Cal Zahn went 3-for-3 with two RBIs at the bottom of the order, and lead-off stick Trey Tesdahl was 3-for-5 with a double and RBI. Tanner Crouch added a pair of singles, while Ben Mossman and Cameron Gordon both had a hit and RBI.
