So far, the weather for Friday night looks very pleasant. The National Weather Service's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies on Friday with highs in the mid-80s.

And Webster City Chamber of Commerce officials say that's just the kind of weather they need for Summer Nights this Friday.

"We plan on being outside this time and look forward to the music, movie, food and fun," said Deb Brown, chamber director.

Adam Lee, a singer/songwriter from Omaha, Neb., will provide the live music at the July Summer Nights event this Friday in downtown Webster City.

The first Summer Nights celebration on June 14 was driven inside Fuller Hall by rain, but many people still came out for the event.

Activities begin at 6 p.m. and will continue through 11 p.m., Brown said.

This Friday, Adam Lee, a singer/songwriter from Omaha, Neb., will provide the live music.

Webster City Custom Meats and the Boy Scouts will be selling a light meal and all proceeds will go to support the Boy Scouts.

"You'll enjoy the smell of cooking food and the fun the Boy Scouts bring as they prepare the meal," Brown said.

The Farmer's Market will be in full swing and making a special appearance on Friday night during Summer Nights. Wilson Brewer Park Museums and Visitors Center volunteers will bring various skins for kids to touch and experience and pioneer costumes to try on. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras.

Brown said Future of Health Massage is providing chair massages and is expected to be quite busy.

"If you don't know what kinds of wines are good or what you might like, Wine Shop at Home is hosting a Wine Aptitude Test," she said. "Learn how to relax with Scentsy - look for the living room in the middle of the street."

There will also be kettle corn available along with homemade lemonade. Stores will be open late as well. Brown said those attending should also look for a group of singing nuns, Tastefully Simple samples, Paparazzi Jewelry, Kendall Young Library fun with books, Mary Kaye sampling, race cars, Doodlebugs, and vintage cars.

The Dance Connection will give a presentation showcase, there will be a hula hoop contest sponsored by the WC to DC kids, a Comfort Zone set up by Webster City Federal and manned by RSVP volunteers.

"Yankee Doodle Dandy" is the movie that will be shown in First American Bank Plaza after dark. James Cagney stars in this film about the life of George M. Cohen. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to watch the movie.

The final Summer Nights celebration is planned for Aug. 9.
