The Daily Freeman Journal

COLFAX - Carly Swenson made Colfax-Mingo pay here last night.

Clinging to a 2-1 lead, the Tigerhawks intentionally walked Brittany Nicholson in the seventh inning to get to Swenson, but it didn't work out as planned.

Swenson ripped a two-RBI single into right field to send South Hamilton to a 3-2 Heart of Iowa Conference victory.

"Carly came up with a big hit at the end, which we haven't been able to do a whole lot this year," South Hamilton head coach Laura Read said.

MacKenzie Busch made a diving catch in right field and then fired to first for a double play in the bottom of the seventh to end it.

Nicholson, Busch and Ella Jans also had hits for the Hawks.
