JEWELL - Lane Heinlein simply knows how to pitch against Prairie City-Monroe.

The South Hamilton senior right-hander tossed a complete-game four-hitter and fanned nine on Friday in a 7-0 victory over the Mustangs at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex.

In 14 innings of work against PCM (12-9, 6-6 HOIC) this season, Heinlein struck out 22 batters.

Devin Howard (right) receives a big welcome from teammates at the plate following his fifth-inning grand slam against PCM on Friday in Jewell.

"Lane came out and dominated (on Friday)," South Hamilton head coach Bret Bell said. "All the credit goes to Lane because it's hard to pitch to guys when they've seen you five or six times."

South Hamilton (6-9, 3-8 HOIC) led 3-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning and with one swing put the game out of reach. With the bags stuffed, Devin Howard belted a Chase Keuning offering over the fence in left-center for a grand slam to push the cushion to seven runs.

"It was a no-doubter as soon as (Howard) made contact, and you could see PCM deflate afterwards," Bell said. "It's good to see him hitting the ball really well."
