Laurel K. Thomas, 66, well-known rural Williams area farmer, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Mercy Medical Center at Mason City. A Gathering to celebrate his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27 at the Foster Chapel. Visitation will be one hour before the Gathering.
Laurel Kent Thomas, son of Leslie and Mildred Lindaman Thomas, was born May 7, 1947 at Winterset, Iowa. He graduated from Dow High School in 1965 and attended Ellsworth Junior College for two years. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard for ten years. On April 3, 1971, he was united in marriage to Linda Sue Davis of Webster City at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa.
Farming was the love of Laurel's life, and when you didn't see him out in the field, he could be found in his shop busily repairing or fabricating something. He also did tiling, demolition, and excavation work for himself and others. In his spare time he enjoyed watching stock care races and restoring classic cars. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Linda and brother, Neil Thomas of Dows.
Laurel was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Thomas.
