BLAIRSBURG - Baseball is pretty simple in one respect: You can't score if you can't get on base.

That was the problem Northeast Hamilton faced here yesterday afternoon, as the Trojans struck out 14 times in a 14-1, 5-inning setback against Iowa Star Conference rival Colo-NESCO, which is coached by former NEH skipper Brandon Kelley.

"When you go out ice cold you remain ice cold and I don't know how else to say it," NEH head coach Chace Pruismann said.

Colo-NESCO (6-4, 4-1 ISC) scored at will early on and never looked back. The Royals touched pitcher Gabe Rapp for 10 hits; Rapp didn't get much help either, as the Trojans (3-4, 3-3 ISC) committed seven errors.

Rapp walked three and struck out eight.

NEH, which finished with three hits off Royals' ace Brandon Niemeyer, scored its lone run in the first inning. Trevor Klaver raced home on a passed ball.
