The Daily Freeman Journal

Trailing 3-1 after three innings, Dunkerton went on a rampage over the final four innings on Friday to cruise to an Iowa Star Conference softball win over Northeast Hamilton in Williams.

The Red Raiders (5-3, 2-1 ISC) erupted for four runs in the fourth inning, three in the fifth and sixth, and four more in the seventh to prevail 15-3. They finished with 16 hits off Trojets' senior right-hander Molly Greenfield. Bailey Epling cranked a solo home run in the sixth inning.

"They went after the ball and hit it hard," NEH head coach Natalie Ostheimer said. "Our effort is still there, now it's just bringing the offense and defense together in the same game."

NEH (1-2 ISC) was held to just four hits - all singles by Lillian Chamness, Andi Anderson, Jenn Willems and Jaidyn Timm.

Chamness drove in two runs in the loss on a single and a bases-loaded walk.

CAL RALLIES BY TROJETS: Northeast Hamilton led 3-0 for most of the game until CAL put up seven runs in the sixth on its way to a 7-3 victory over Saturday during the Trojet Invite.
