WEBSTER CITY - At some point the Webster City softball team is going to cool off. At some point the Lynx are going to have to play seven innings against a North Central Conference opponent.

But until then head coach Jess Howard and her players are just going to enjoy the ride.

WCHS ripped off 11 more hits last night, including a home run off the bat of Kaylee Schnathorst, in a 10-0, 6-inning shellacking of league rival Eagle Grove.

In three conference contests, the Lynx (5-2, 3-0 NCC) have outscored their opponents 36-0. Schnathorst and Kaitlyn Biere accounted for all four of the team's extra-base hits against the Eagles, who were only able to hold WCHS scoreless in one inning.

"The girls are just doing a real good job of pitch selection and not necessarily going after that first pitch," Howard said. "If we continue to do that then we should be able to continue to hit the ball."

Schnathorst and Biere both laced doubles in the first inning; Biere's plated what turned out to be the only run WCHS would need.

The Lynx scored another run in the second inning when Schnathorst turned on a Megan Crail offering and laced it into left field for a two-out RBI single.

And WCHS was just getting started.

Four more runs followed in the fourth. Schnathorst added her second RBI with a base knock, Biere found the gap for an RBI triple and Maddie Anderson followed with a run-scoring single.

Another run in the fifth padded the Lynx cushion to 8-0 and they finished it off in the sixth with two more. Schnathorst was again the catalyst, as she brought the entire team out of the dugout with a solo shot - her second of the season.

"Kaitlyn and Kaylee are both doing a real good job of exploding on contact right now," Howard said. "And with any team hits are usually contagious. If you can get one or two girls rolling then the others start to follow."

Maddie Anderson and Mikaleh McCoy both collected two hits in three plate appearances, and Hannah Myers legged out an infield single. McCoy and Erin Anderson drove in runs as well.

Biere continued to dominate conference foes in the pitching circle. Her string of seven consecutive hitless innings was erased on a first-inning single by Sam Kruckenberg, and the Eagles (4-4, 1-3 NCC) put runners in scoring position in the opening two frames.

Both times Biere silenced the visitors with strikeouts. She finished with nine and gave up just four hits.

Up next for WCHS is another NCC clash tonight against Hampton-Dumont. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
