WEBSTER CITY - Race fans can look forward to an action-packed week of racing when weekly action resumes at the Hamilton County Speedway on Saturday.

Then next Tuesday, the first of two special mid-week racing events hosted by the local track begins. The Deery Bros. Late Model Summer Series race and the Hawkeye Dirt Tour for Modifieds will be on the track that evening for fast-paced action.

The Deery Bros. Late Model series returns to the local speedway for the first time in seven years. The event pays $3,000 to win and more than 30 Late Models are expected to compete from throughout the state.

The series began in 1987 and has been at the local track 26 times since then. Jeff Aikey, No. 77 of Waterloo, leads all drivers with six career series wins here. Aikey, who is expected to be on the track that night, is currently standing second in points for the 2013 17-race series which ends in late September. The veteran driver is the seven-time and defending series champion; he also leads all drivers with 58 career tour wins.

The familiar yellow No. 99D driven by Darrel DeFrance is also expected to be here. DeFrance has driven every single Deery series race - more than 400 - since its inception, claiming 13 career wins along the way.

Fans can expect even more action as the Hawkeye Dirt Tour - featuring the top Modified cars and drivers in Iowa - makes its second visit to the speedway. Fans will see many familiar cars, as many of the racers have appeared at the local track this season for weekly racing. The winner will take home $1,000.

With many of the previously scheduled Hawkeye Dirt Tour events rained out, drivers will be eager to be on the track to earn points toward the series championship.

Support classes for the June 4 special racing night will be IMCA Sport Mods and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
