BLAIRSBURG - The Northeast Hamilton baseball team scored multiple runs each time it got the chance and clubbed 10 hits in a 5-inning thumping of Meskwaki Settlement here on Friday.
Two runs in the first inning gave the Trojans (1-0) the lead for good in a 16-1 Iowa Star Conference win. They finished with 10 hits, while pitchers Logan Seiser and Gabe Rapp combined to throw a no-hitter in the run-rule shortened contest.
"With a completely new coaching staff and a lot of new guys on the team, I thought we did a good job of coming together as a team," NEH rookie head coach Chace Pruismann said. "For the most part we hit the ball very well; the kids put good stick on the ball."
NEH added four runs in the second inning, four more in the third and six in the fourth.
Seiser and Rapp both laced doubles and combined to drive in five runs. Trevor Klaver roped a pair of singles; Andy Pate added a base hit and two RBIs.
Seiser worked one inning before handing the ball over to Rapp, who went the rest of the way to secure the win.
