The Daily Freeman Journal

WILLIAMS - One walk turned into two, two turned into three, three turned into four and so on for the Northeast Hamilton softball team here Friday evening.

And by the time the game was mercifully put to bed, the scoreboard was exhausted.

The Trojets drew 11 walks in the first inning and 15 in two at bats in their 25-0 pasting of Meskwaki Settlement in Iowa Star Conference play.

NEH sent 23 batters to the dish and scored 17 times in the marathon bottom of the first. The game ended in 3 innings.

"Meskwaki is very young and I respect them because they did play hard," NEH head coach Natalie Ostheimer said after picking up the first victory of her budding coaching career. "I was just really happy with our effort. The girls made very smart decisions."

Jennifer Jeffers ripped a double and triple and drove in four runs in the rout. Andi Anderson, Jenn Willems, Molly Greenfield, Jaidyn Timm and Leah Meyer all singled.
