JEWELL - A strong outing on the bump by Josh Doering and a lineup that got hot late propelled the South Hamilton baseball team to a 9-4 victory over Eagle Grove (0-1) last night at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex.
Originally scheduled to take place in Eagle Grove, the game was moved to Jewell because a portion of the Eagles' field was under water.
Doering relied on his fastball and fanned four in 62?3 innings of work to collect the win. He offered up seven hits and four earned runs.
"Josh came out and did exactly what we asked for him to do," South Hamilton head coach Bret Bell said. "He threw tons and tons of strikes."
South Hamilton (1-1) scored first in the fourth inning, added a run in the fifth and then exploded for five in the sixth to take command.
JD Rader delivered a two-RBI single in the sixth, Lucas Olson drove in one on a base knock, and Nathan McSparin added another RBI.
