American Legion Post 191 will once again assemble the Avenue of Flags at Graceland Cemetery in observance of Memorial Day.

Ron Keigan, chairman of the Avenue of Flags Committee, announced that the flags will go up on May 24. The first trailer will be emptied beginning at 10 a.m. and the second trailer will be emptied beginning at 4 p.m.

This year, the flags will stay in place until May 29, one day longer than in previous years.

"I though it would be a good idea to try keeping this beautiful display up an extra day this year," Keigan said.

The removal schedule is the same as setup, with trailers arriving at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Legion officials said volunteers are needed once again this year to assist with the unloading and loading of flags. Those wishing to volunteer are asked to gather at the Beach Street entrance to the cemetery or the main office.
