Hawks’ Peters 4th at regional, moves one step from state tourney

FORT DODGE - South Hamilton senior Maggie Peters will get to play competitive prep golf at least one more time.

Peters finished in the top five at yesterday's Class 2A Region 1B at Lakeside Golf Club to advance to next Monday's regional final at Pocahontas Golf Club where she'll play for a spot in the state tournament.

Peters' round of 92 placed her fourth. St. Edmond's Emily Halligan was the medalist with an 87. Ogden's Elisabeth Rinehart (89) was the runner-up and Okoboji's Alex Mankle (91) was third.

South Hamilton failed to advance to the regional final; the Hawks were fifth in the team race with a 419.

Emmetsburg (406) and St. Edmond (406) finished in the first- and second-place slots to advance.
