JEWELL - In action taken at their May 7 board meeting, the members of the South Hamilton School District Foundation approved a recommendation from the scholarship committee awarding 10 - $500 scholarships and 10 - $100 scholarships to members of the 2013 graduating class. Alex Woodall, President of the Foundation said, "One of our primary objectives as an organization is to support our South Hamilton graduates as they embark on the next educational chapter of their lives. We are pleased to enhance the number of students we will be supporting with scholarships this year."
In other action the Board approved a mini grant application for the purchase of additional video cameras and other equipment to support enhanced technology coursework in the high school.
The South Hamilton School District Foundation has provided more than $200,000 in support for student scholarships and mini grants since 2004.
The Foundation's purpose is to maintain, develop, increase, and extend the facilities and services of the South Hamilton Community School District and to provide broader educational service opportunities to its students, staff, faculty, and to the residents of the district.
Current board members include Dave Carlson, Brenda Dryer, Scott Ervin, Sonja Fisher, Vicki Hill, Julie Lutjen, Judi Meyer, Tara Northrop, Paul Skartvedt and Alex Woodall.
