HAWK BOYS SHOOT 149, CRUSIE: The South Hamilton boys' golf team fired a 149 to beat Roland-Story (169) by 20 shots in a Heart of Iowa Conference dual yesterday at River Bend Golf Course in Story City.
Trevor Ullestad's 1-under par round of 35 beat teammate Braxton Risetter (36) by one shot for the medalist honor. Jacob Haugland (37) and Jordan Bowers (41) also figured into South Hamilton's team total.
SH GIRLS DOWN NORSE AT HOME: Medalist Brittany Butler turned in a 45 to propel the South Hamilton girls' golf team to a 209-237 dual-meet victory over Roland-Story yesterday at the Jewell Golf and Country Club.
Maggie Peters added a 51 for the Hawks.
LYNX GIRLS' TENNIS FALLS TO LIONS: The Clear Lake girls' tennis team swept the singles and doubles matches to take a 9-0 victory over Webster City yesterday afternoon at the WCHS courts.
Cambria Hoffman played well for the Lynx in the No. 1 singles slot; she won the first set over Jenna Peterson (6-4), but dropped the second set (6-4) and the tiebreaker (10-1).
WCHS will be on the road against Iowa Falls-Alden on Thursday.
STRAW, HIPPEN WIN ON COURTS FOR LYNX: Andrew Straw and Colin Hippen won singles matches for the Webster City boys' tennis team yesterday during the Lynx 7-2 loss to Iowa Falls-Alden in Iowa Falls.
Straw beat Logan Rieks, 11-10, after taking the tiebreaker, 7-5. Hippen took care of Thomas Burchfield, 10-4.
LYNX GIRLS' SOCCER EARNS WIN: Second-half goals from Molly Gilbert and Kennedy Daniels allowed the Webster City girls' soccer team to score a 2-0 victory over Humboldt last night in Humboldt.
The Lynx avenged a loss in penalty kicks to the Wildcats last week.
"I'm really proud of the team and the effort in a good team win," WCHS head coach Greg Bock said.
Gilbert scored off an assist from Rachel Kauffman in the 68th minute. Gilbert handed out the assist on Daniels' goal with 1:11 to go.
Lynx goalkeeper Maia Jaycox recorded her first shutout while coming up with 10 saves.
WCHS will be at home against Clear Lake today at 5:30 p.m.
