Attendees to the fourth annual St. Thomas Aquinas Ball dug deep into their wallets to help the school surpass their goal for the fundraiser by over $20,000.

Through ticket sales, raffle tickets, auctioned items and donations, the Ball raised $161,500 for the school, well over their fundraising goal of $140,000. Volunteer chairperson Jenny Maharry said that 235 tickets were sold for the event and about 210 people were in attendance on Saturday night at the church's Parrish Center.

"We couldn't have done this without all the businesses and supporters that helped us," Maharry said. "We really appreciate them and the town for supporting us."

The Ball had three grand prizes for the raffle. The first prize winner of $10,000 was Lisa Dorothy. The second prize winner of a 55-inch LG HDTV with Sound bar and Blu-Ray DVD player was Jim Bergkamp. The third prize winner of $1,000 in gift cards was Brett Knutson.

This was the first year that the Ball hosted a full sit-down meal. Maharry said that it went very well and attendees enjoyed it. They will consider hosting a full meal at future Ball fundraisers.
