WEBSTER CITY - The Webster City girls' tennis team had several chances to erase the goose egg from its side of the scoreboard yesterday afternoon at the WCHS courts, but the Lynx weren't able to slam the door against Iowa Falls-Alden.
The Cadets won all of the close matches and tacked on six decisive victories to claim a 9-0 triumph.
"We've actually improved a lot and the girls played much harder (than in the last meet against Clear Lake)," WCHS head coach Heather Kierzek said. "We had our chances, but some of the calls didn't go our way."
The Lynx No. 3 doubles team of Lynne Chalfant and Olivia Tasler owned the lead on Sarah Emerson and Jessica Dague, but the Cadet tandem rallied to force a tiebreaker and prevailed, 11-10 (7-2).
Ariel Clabaugh, in the No. 2 singles spot for WCHS, pushed Sarah Adams before falling 10-8.
WCHS will be back at home today to face Ballard at 4:30 p.m.
