WEBSTER CITY - The Webster City girls' golf team got a front row seat to the state's standard bearers yesterday at the Webster City Links.
Did the Lynx win? No. But they got the chance to witness, first-hand, what it takes to be considered one of the best.
Algona Bishop Garrigan - the holder of six Class 1A state championships and one state runner-up trophy since 2005 - relied on its two heavy hitters to sail past Webster City, 197-258, in a North Central Conference dual meet.

Iowa Falls-Alden and Eagle Grove had players on the course as well to face Bishop Garrigan. The Lynx will take on both teams later this spring.
Garrigan, the reigning 1A state champion, received a medalist round of 41 from Alexa Capesius and a runner-up medalist posting of 44 from Haley Froehlich.
Capesius placed fourth individually at state in 2012, a year after she finished fifth. Froehlich was fifth last spring and ninth in 2011.
