WEBSTER CITY - Tyler John Schaefer, 29, a high school social studies teacher and the head football coach at South Hamilton High School, was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated first offense, in Harrison County in western Iowa last Sunday.

Schaefer, who is in his first year at South Hamilton, was also cited for having an open container. He posted a $1,000 cash bond and was released, according to online court records.

The citations were issued by the Dunlap Police department.

No other information pertaining to the arrest was available.

A message left on Schaefer's cell phone seeking comment was not returned.

South Hamilton Superintendent Tim Johnson declined to comment on the arrest when contacted by phone, saying it was a personnel issue. When asked if he was aware of the arrest, Johnson again chose not to comment.

This is not Schaefer's first alcohol-related offense. In 2004, he was cited for underage possession in Blackhawk County. Schaefer pled guilty to the charge.
